The United States Bureau of Counterterrorism has praised the Nigerian Air Force, NAF, for its determined effort and significant contributions to the fight against terrorism and insurgency in Nigeria.
Jessica Long, Acting Principal Deputy Coordinator for Counterterrorism at the Bureau, gave the commendation during a high-level meeting with NAF officials in Abuja. She acknowledged the military’s recent successes in disrupting terrorist networks and adopting innovative, intelligence-driven tactics to neutralize insurgent threats.
Long emphasized that these efforts have not only secured strategic regions within Nigeria but have also contributed to regional stability. She reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to supporting NAF’s counterterrorism initiatives, stressing the importance of precision-driven operations for maximum strategic impact.
Chief of Civil-Military Relations, AVM Ibikunle Daramola, who received the delegation, reiterated NAF’s dedication to national security and the protection of civilians during operations. He highlighted advancements in civil-military relations, which have helped foster community trust and minimize collateral damage.
Daramola also called for increased cooperation in specialized training and technology transfer to further strengthen Nigeria’s counterterrorism capabilities.
The meeting, attended by senior NAF officers, focused on enhancing security cooperation, intelligence sharing, and operational support to bolster ongoing efforts against insurgency and terrorism.
