The Department of State Services, DSS, has arrested Innocent Chukwuma from Oyigbo, Port Harcourt, for using his social media handle urging the military to overthrow the government of President Bola Tinubu.
Posting on his “X” handle “@TheAgroman,” Chukwuma stated that a coup was needed in Nigeria and called on the military to “suspend the Nigerian government.”
He posted: “A coup in Nigeria is needed. Dispose of APC, suspend the Nigerian Government, and join the AES. That is all we need now.
“It will happen eventually. Nigerians, the military needs your support now! Only them can save this country.
“The bastard in Aso Rock has basically sold this country to the West, and they run our intelligence apparatus. Only the military can reset this country. Support them”.
A source disclosed that the suspect is cooperating with DSS investigators.
Nigeria’s security landscape has been tense in recent months following a series of high-profile arrests linked to alleged coup plots and anti-government activities
Two weeks ago, the Defence Intelligence Agency, DIA, detained sixteen senior military officers — including personnel from the Army, Navy, and Air Force — over what was described as a foiled plan to overthrow President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Although military authorities initially downplayed the incident, citing “disciplinary issues” and “career stagnation,” insider reports revealed that intelligence gathered by the DIA pointed to secret meetings and discussions among the officers about forcibly taking power.
News filtered in yesterday that intelligence operatives reportedly raided the Abuja and Bayelsa residences of former Minister of State for Petroleum, Chief Timipre Sylva, after linking him to the same coup network.
According to multiple security sources, the operation, carried out by a special military unit, was based on what was termed “credible intelligence” connecting Sylva to detained officers allegedly involved in the plot. During the raid, the former minister’s brother, Paga Sylva, was arrested, while the ex-minister himself was said to have fled the country.
