The Police Command in Ogun State has launched an investigation into the deaths of retired Ogun State Television broadcaster, Ms. Kitan Oyesiku, and her security guard at Iyana Agodo Village, Kobape, Abeokuta.

The command’s spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi in a statement in Abeokuta on Sunday disclosed that the incident was reported at the Owode Egba Police Division on Sunday after a resident raised alarm over suspicious activities at the residence.

Babaseyi said detectives deployed to the scene found signs of forced entry.

He noted that the security guard’s body was discovered at the security post, while Oyesiku’s body was found inside her apartment.

He added that the victim’s vehicle was missing from the premises, while preliminary investigations had commenced to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

According to him, the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, has ordered a comprehensive investigation and directed detectives to identify and apprehend those responsible.

Babaseyi said surveillance and intelligence-led operations had been intensified, assuring residents that efforts would be made to ensure justice.

He also commiserated with the families of the deceased, the OGTV community and the media, urging members of the public to remain calm and provide useful information to aid the investigation.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) gathered that unknown gunmen on Sunday, stormed the residence of Oyesiku, popularly known as “Aunty Kitan”, and murdered her in cold blood.

The late broadcaster was well known in the media circle, having served with OGTV before her retirement.
