Nollywood star, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has reportedly died after battling stage-four cancer.
A colleague of the actor, who confirmed the development said he died on Sunday afternoon, August 23, 2026, while receiving medical treatment. “I received the call a few minutes ago. I am broken,” the colleague said.
The reported death comes less than a week after Ogogo’s daughters, Lima and Kira Taiwo, made emotional public appeals for urgent medical intervention for their father after disclosing that he had been diagnosed with stage-four cancer.
The family had revealed on August 17 that the severity of the actor’s condition had only recently become known to them.
According to reports from the daughters, the cancer had affected his abdomen, while the medical team treating him had indicated that chemotherapy was no longer feasible.
The development had triggered an outpouring of concern from colleagues, fans and other members of the Nigerian entertainment industry.
Yoruba film stars and filmmakers, including Jide Kosoko, Yinka Quadri, Antar Laniyan, Bukky Wright, Fausat Balogun and Bolaji Amusan, popularly known as Mr Latin, gathered in Lagos on Friday for a prayer session seeking his recovery.

The actor’s health crisis also generated misinformation after reports circulated on social media on August 18 claiming that he had died.
His daughter, Lima, quickly dismissed the reports as false and urged the public to stop spreading unverified information.
The family subsequently continued to provide updates on his condition. On Saturday, August 22, Kira expressed frustration over what she described as attempts by some individuals to profit from the family’s distress, alleging that some people had demanded millions of naira and thousands of dollars while offering purported solutions to her father’s condition.
Medical experts have also cautioned against interpreting the cessation of chemotherapy as a refusal to provide medical care.
A doctor who commented on the case explained that patients with advanced cancer may be moved to palliative care when curative treatment options, including chemotherapy, are no longer considered appropriate.
His reported death marks a major loss to the Yoruba film industry, coming after an intense week in which colleagues, relatives and fans rallied around him in the hope of securing further treatment.
As of the time of this report, further details on the circumstances of his reported death and funeral arrangements are expected from his family and representatives.
