The Chief of Army Staff, COAS, Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu has commended Gov. Peter Mbah for improving the security situation in Enugu State within two years in office.

Shaibu gave the commendation on Thursday in Enugu while on a courtesy call to Mbah.

The COAS is in the state for the ongoing Regimental Sergeant Majors’, RSMs, Convention 2025.

He said that the governor’s continued collaboration with security agencies; security investment and technology deployment in the state had made the difference.

The army chief said, “I am here to thank the governor for his continued support to the Nigerian Army in the last two years.

“It is also clear that in the last two years, security of lives and property have generally improved in the state. I must commend you for this feat.”

The COAS said that he was in Enugu for the ongoing RSM Convention 2025, adding: “The Nigerian Army remains grateful for the support of the state government to the event”.

He said that the RSM convention is an annual event, which usually holds in different states of the country, and “this year, it is holding in the peaceful and serene city of Enugu.”

Responding, Mbah welcomed the COAS and his entourage to Enugu State and by extension, the South-East.

The governor congratulated the army chief on his recent appointment as the new Chief of Army Staff.

“As a state government, and on behalf of our people, we are ready to partner with the Nigerian Army as we have always done.

“We look forward to strengthening all existing relationship and collaboration with the Nigerian Army,” he added.

The RSMs Convention, a week-long event which started on Nov. 10, is being attended by 250 RSMs from various formations of the Army nationwide.
