President Bola Tinubu has directed Vice President Kashim Shettima to travel to Kebbi State on Wednesday to commiserate with the government, meet families of the kidnapped schoolgirls and assure them of the administration’s commitment to securing the children’s safe return.
A statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja by Presidential Spokesperson Bayo Onanuga said the president also condoled with the military over the death of Brig.-Gen. Musa Uba and several soldiers killed during operations in Borno State.
Tinubu expressed deep sadness over the abduction of the schoolgirls, noting that the incident occurred despite intelligence warnings about possible attacks by bandits. He commended Governor Nasir Idris for the efforts made to avert the tragedy.
The president appealed to communities particularly those in vulnerable areas to work closely with security agencies by providing timely information to the military, police, and the Department of State Services. According to him, security forces cannot operate effectively without the cooperation of citizens.

“As the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, I am depressed with the tragic death of our soldiers and officers on active duty. May God comfort the families of Brig.-Gen. Musa Uba and other fallen heroes,” Tinubu said.
He added that he was equally saddened by the disruption of the education of innocent schoolgirls, describing the kidnappers as “heartless terrorists.” He said he had ordered security agencies to act swiftly and ensure the girls are rescued and reunited with their families.
Tinubu reaffirmed that his administration remains fully committed to restoring peace across the country and securing the immediate release of the abducted students.
