Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo has removed his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua and appointed Dr. Ebojele Akhere Patrick as his replacement.

Barrister Umar Musa Ikhilor, Secretary to the State Government said Dr. Ebojele’s appointment is part of Governor Okpebholo’s plan to enhance the administration’s communication strategy and strengthen the flow of information between the government and the public.

The SSG emphasized that Ebojele brings decades of professional experience to the role, having worked extensively across journalism, public administration, research, and academia.

Dr. Ebojele’s media career includes notable assignments in respected national outlets. He served as Edo/Delta Correspondent for Channels Television, where he covered political, social, and economic developments across the region.

He also previously held correspondent roles at New Nigerian Newspaper, Champion Newspaper, and Comet Newspapers, giving him broad exposure within Nigeria’s media landscape.

Beyond journalism, he has also contributed to public affairs and academic research, further broadening his expertise.

The government described these credentials as central to its decision, noting that the new CPS is expected to help deepen public engagement and improve how state policies and activities are communicated.

The statement added that the administration remains committed to maintaining transparency and clarity in all official communications while keeping residents adequately informed about government initiatives.

Fred Itua, the outgoing CPS, is expected to hand over responsibilities immediately and will await a new assignment that the government intends to announce at a later date.

The statement acknowledged his service and contributions, extending the government’s appreciation for his work during his time in office.

The reshuffling comes at a time when the Okpebholo administration is working to reinforce its internal structures ahead of upcoming development plans and policy announcements.

With Dr. Ebojele taking over as the governor’s spokesperson, the state government hopes to reposition its communication machinery for improved efficiency and stronger public trust.

Further updates on administrative developments in Edo State are expected in the coming days as the governor continues to align his team with his governance vision.
