Seven governorship aspirants seeking the flag of the APC in next year’s election in Osun State have discredited the report of the screening committee headed by Barrister Obinna Uzor.
The committee, Friday purportedly issued a six page report where it claimed that only two nine aspirants were cleared for the December 13 primary election. But facts have emerged that not all the members endorsed the published report.
Those not cleared in the report described as “fake” are Senator Iyiola Omisore, Benedict Olugboyega Alabi, Dotun Babayemi, Akin Ogunbiyi, Senator Babajide Omoworare, Kunle Adegoke, SAN, and Babatunde Oralusi.
Those given the nod are Hon. Mulikat Adeola Jimoh and Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji.

According to the committee’s six-page report signed by all members, the disqualified aspirants failed to meet specific constitutional requirements in Article 9.3(i) and 31.2(ii) of the APC Constitution and Paragraph 6(c)of the APC Guidelines for the 2025 Governorship Primary.
Specifically, they were said to have failed to secure sponsorship from at least five fully registered and financially up-to-date members from each Local Government Area as required by rules. But many aspirants have denied such allegations.
The screening committee also said it acted on a petition from the Osun APC Renewal Group which flagged certain aspirants for failing to meet mandatory nominator requirements. The committee described the issues raised as “weighty, substantial, and germane to the integrity of the selection process”. It provided no further details.
The seven aspirants have been referred to the APC National Working Committee for final clearance consideration. But the Screening Appeal Committee headed by Senator Tola Odebiyi is scheduled to convene on Saturday in Abuja to hear petitions and appeals from all other aggrieved stakeholders.
Oralusi has asked President Bola Tinubu to dissolve the screening committee for doing a “shoddy job,” and for allegedly working to a pre-determined answer.
