The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman, Kwara Traditional Rulers Council, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has expressed sadness over the demise of the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Shaykh Muhammad Bashir Imam-Solih.
This is contained in a condolence message issued by the emir’s Press Secretary, Dr Abdulazeez Arowona on Monday, in Ilorin, following the Chief Imam’s death.
Sulu-Gambari described the death of the chief Imam as a colossal loss to the Ilorin Emirate, the entire Muslim Ummah and humanity in general.
The emir said: “Inna lillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi rajiun, it is with total submission to the will of Almighty Allah that we accept the death of Chief Imam of Ilorin, Shaykh Muhammad Bashir Imam-Solih on Monday.
“He was a cleric with unique features, such as intelligence, honesty, loyalty, dedication and tolerance.
“His demise has caused us in Ilorin Emirate great sadness of no particular measure.
“We reflect on his lifetime as a man of great honour and piety,” he said.
Sulu-Gambari stressed that the late Imam-Solih was full of wisdom and was known for unifying the entire Muslim clerics as well as promoting inter-religious harmony in the state.

The emir prayed the Almighty Allah to grant Imam-Solih absolute forgiveness, accept his good deeds and admit him into Al-Janatul Firdaus.
Similarly, the Federation of Muslim Women Associations in Nigeria, FOMWAN, has condoled the Emir of Ilorin and the Muslim Ummah over the death of Chief Imam, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir-Saliu.
In a statement signed by Kwara FOMWAN Amirah, Hajia Biliqis Oladimeji, on Monday, the association described him as a revered spiritual leader.
She said the late Chief Imam exemplified unwavering faith, moral uprightness and tireless promotion of peace and communal harmony throughout his lifetime.
“He served as a foremost religious authority and a stabilising force, whose wise counsel fostered unity, tolerance and mutual respect across the Ilorin Emirate and beyond.
“FOMWAN acknowledges his immense contributions to the spiritual and social development of Ilorin and surrounding communities,” she added.
She noted his pivotal role in nurturing generations through sound teachings, humility and a profound sense of responsibility to Allah and humanity.
Oladimeji said his passing represents a monumental loss to the Ilorin Emirate, Kwara State and the wider Nigerian Muslim community.
While mourning his death, she said his life of dedicated service, wisdom and commitment to spiritual upliftment would be celebrated.
“We pray that Almighty Allah grants him Al-Jannah Firdaus, forgives his shortcomings and accepts his good deeds as acts of worship,” she said.
She also prayed for patience and strength for the Emir, the Ilorin Emirate Council, the bereaved family and the entire Ummah.
Oladimeji added that the late Chief Imam’s legacy of faith, guidance and selfless service would continue to inspire future generations.
