The Minister of State for Regional Development, Uba Maigari Ahmed has commissioned 10 projects executed by the North East Development Commission, NEDC, in Bauchi State, as part of efforts to improve living standards in Nigeria’s northeast region.

The projects, commissioned between during the week were handed over to the state government and cover education, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture, and market development.

Speaking during a courtesy visit to Governor Bala Mohammed, Ahmed said the delegation, which included officials from the Ministry of Regional Development, National Assembly meMinister unveils mbers, and NEDC board members, was in the state to commission completed projects and inspect ongoing initiatives.

The minister commended President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to regional development, describing the interventions as aligned with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Governor Mohammed praised the NEDC for its professionalism and visible impact across the state. “The Commission’s interventions have complemented state efforts and accelerated progress in critical sectors,” he said.

Among the commissioned projects are a new NEDC state office, a mega school in Dungel along Jos Road, and a Medical Emergency Complex at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital.

Others include a modern fire service station and truck at ATBU’s Gubi Campus, renovated Government Secondary School Yelwan Duguri, two primary health centres in Yashi and Shira, a renovated school in Maina Maji, and an ultra-modern cattle market in Alkaleri local government area.

The minister also commissioned the Kalajanga-Bara-Tashan Turmi Bridges along the Bauchi-Gombe Road.

Ahmed inspected ongoing projects at Government Secondary School Bauchi, comprising two classroom blocks, an administration block and a laboratory, as well as construction work on the Gombe Abba-Kirfi Road.

The NEDC was established to coordinate development initiatives in Nigeria’s northeast region, which has faced infrastructure deficits and security challenges in recent years.
