The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, and a former factional National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Taminu Turaki, on Wednesday joined former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State at a meeting held in the home of a former President of the Senate, David Mark in Abuja.

The meeting, which was in progress as at press time, came after a protest in Abuja by the African Democratic Congress.

The de-recognized leadership of the ADC, had staged a protest to the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission.

The meeting at Mark’s residence, shortly after the protest, also had in attendance the Leader of the Kwankwashiya Movement, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso; a former Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi; a former Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal; and a former Governor of Niger State, Dr. Babangida Aliyu.

Also at the meeting were a former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami; a former Minister of Information, Jerry Gana; and a former National Secretary of the PDP, Taofeek Arapaja.

Others present include ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, and PDP National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong.

Sources from both the ADC and PDP camps, who spoke on condition of anonymity as they were not authorized to comment, disclosed that the meeting is aimed at exploring ways for opposition leaders to work together to challenge President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress in 2027.

One of the sources added that the meeting will also review internal crises within both parties, deliberate on key national issues, and develop strategic plans going forward.

The major opposition parties, the factional PDP and ADC, are currently grappling with internal leadership crises, marked by the emergence of rival factions and ongoing court disputes.
