Gombe State Governor, Inuwa Yahaya, has dissolved the State Executive Council with immediate effect, bringing the tenure of all commissioners to an abrupt end.
The development was disclosed on Wednesday in a brief statement shared by the Director-General of Press Affairs at the Government House, Ismaila Misilli.
“Governor Inuwa Yahaya dissolves Gombe Executive Council. More details to follow,” the statement read.
As of the time of filing this report, the state government has not provided an official reason for the decision. However, the move is expected to affect all serving commissioners and members of the executive council.
Observers say such actions are often linked to administrative restructuring or political realignments, especially as preparations for the 2027 general elections begin to gather momentum.
The development comes just days after Babagana Zulum, governor of Borno State, also dissolved his cabinet.
In a statement issued earlier, the Secretary to the Borno State Government, Bukar Tijani, said the decision was partly to allow members of the council interested in contesting elective positions to pursue their ambitions.

“The decision is to provide an enabling environment for any member of the council who may wish to contest elective positions in the forthcoming general elections,” he said.
He added that commissioners were directed to hand over the affairs of their ministries to permanent secretaries within a stipulated timeframe.
The wave of cabinet reshuffles across states is coming amid growing political activities ahead of the next election cycle, with several governors reportedly asking political appointees with electoral ambitions to step down in line with provisions of the Electoral Act.
