Patrick Doyle, the ace Nollywood actor, is mourning the death of his newborn daughter Omayinuwa, just one day after announcing her birth.

The actor had shared the news on Saturday that he and his wife Olufunmilayo had welcomed their first child together. But by Sunday, celebration turned to sorrow.

In a heartfelt Facebook post, Patrick revealed that the baby passed away shortly after coming into the world.

He added that although her stay was “short”, it “brought joy” to them and they wished she could have stayed longer. The cause of death was however not disclosed.

“Omayinuwa visited us briefly at about 10:40 am on Friday 10th April and returned to heaven on Saturday 11th of April at about 4:15 pm. Her stay was short, but it brought great joy with it. We would wish for a longer stay, but alas heaven thought otherwise,” he wrote.

“This much we know though, God still rules in the affairs of men. Our faith in the goodness of God remains resolute regardless. Sibe’ sibe’ Oluwa n’be’. It is well with our soul.”

Patrick was previously married to actress Ireti Doyle. The former couple finalized their divorce in early 2023.

In 2022, he married Olufunmilayo. However, he made their union public in March 2023.

In another development, Scarlet Gomez, the Nigerian actress, has revealed that her husband Temi Gomez is completely comfortable with her taking on intimate roles in films.

In a recent episode of ‘Curiosity Made Me Ask’ podcast, the ‘Wura’ star opened up about her husband’s mature perspective on her craft.

Scarlet explained that her husband understands the difference between her real personality and her on-screen characters.  Regardless of the nature of her kissing scenes, she stated that his trust in her remains “unwavering”.

“I am married to a man, not a boy. He does not have a small ego. And he trusts his wife,” she said.

Reflecting on her eight-year marriage, the actress argued that being married is neither a requirement nor a hindrance to a successful acting career.

She also downplayed the attention given to kissing scenes, asking the interviewer not to focus too heavily on them.

“Marriage is not a requirement for acting. It is sure for me. I am doing my job… why are you centered on kissing?” she asked.

Gomez, who began acting in 2012, admitted that acting was not her first career choice but rather a means to make a living.

Last month, she opened up about the emotional toll of playing the complex lead role in ‘Wura’, acknowledging the strong support system provided by her friends and family.

While the role brought her greater recognition, she noted that she deliberately avoids being typecast.
