SuperSport has promised to broadcast all 104 matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup live on DStv and GOtv, with the most accessible tournament yet across Africa.

At a media briefing moderated by Sibusiso Mjikeliso, with keynote remarks from chief executive Rendani Ramovha, the company said the move would widen reach, positioning the competition as the continent’s most inclusive World Cup viewing experience.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the tournament, hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico, will run from June 11 to July 19.

NAN also reports that the expanded competition will feature 48 nations for the first time, marking a significant shift in global football’s showpiece event.

Ramovha noted that Africa would send a record 10 teams, describing it as “a major moment for African football on the global stage”.

The qualified teams include Ghana, South Africa, Senegal, Cape Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia and DR Congo.

“We have built our coverage around four pillars: unmatched scale, unprecedented accessibility, and championing African pride and participation,” Ramovha said.

“This is about making a clear statement for Africa on the global stage through world-class broadcasting.

“For the first time, all matches will be available across subscription tiers, expanding access to millions of viewers across the continent,” Ramovha said.

He confirmed four dedicated World Cup channels would be created, with coverage delivered in English and Portuguese.

He added broadcasts would be available in seven languages, reflecting Africa’s diverse audiences and strengthening engagement.

“Viewers will also enjoy expanded preview shows, live events, studio programming and special features throughout the tournament.

“We are looking forward to delivering broadcast features tailored to unique cultures and local African languages,” Ramovha said.

He said the campaign theme, ‘Everything Else Can Wait,’ reflects the scale and significance of the month-long tournament.

The campaign launched with a surprise on-air appearance by Idris Elba, who confirmed all matches would air live on DStv and GOtv.

The broadcaster said more celebrity appearances, studio guests and partnerships are expected during the tournament build-up.

With Africa sending its largest-ever delegation, SuperSport is preparing one of the most ambitious broadcasts in its history.
