Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, has extended warm Eid-el-Kabir greetings to Muslims in Nigeria and beyond, urging citizens to embrace peace, sacrifice, and national unity.

Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah also congratulated Muslims nationwide on Eid-el-Kabir, urging unity, tolerance, sacrifice and hope among Nigerians.

In his Sallah message, Senator Akume described the occasion as a period of deep spiritual reflection, compassion and devotion to the values exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim.

He called on Nigerians to use the celebration to pray for the peace, stability and progress of the country.

The SGF noted that Eid-el-Kabir symbolises obedience, selflessness and faith in God, virtues he said remain essential in fostering harmony and strengthening national cohesion at a time the nation faces socio-economic and security challenges.

Akume also commended Muslims for their contributions to national development and peaceful coexistence, stressing that Nigeria’s diversity should continue to serve as a source of strength rather than division.

He urged citizens to promote tolerance and mutual understanding irrespective of ethnic, religious or political differences.

The SGF further appealed to Nigerians to support the policies and programmes of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, stressing that ongoing reforms are already yielding positive results for the country.

He said the government remains committed to improving the welfare and living conditions of citizens.

He encouraged Muslim faithful to extend love and kindness to the less privileged during the celebration, adding that the spirit of sacrifice associated with Eid-el-Kabir should inspire greater care for vulnerable members of society.

Akume prayed for continued peace, unity and prosperity in Nigeria, while wishing Muslims a joyful and fulfilling Eid-el-Kabir celebration marked by happiness, safety and renewed hope for the nation.

In his goodwill message, Mbah also encouraged charity and solidarity, particularly toward vulnerable and less privileged citizens across the country.

“On the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir, I extend warm felicitations to our Muslim brothers and sisters in Enugu State and across Nigeria,” he said.

He described the festival as a sacred celebration of faith, sacrifice and devotion to Allah, with enduring lessons for humanity.

According to Mbah, Eid-el-Kabir highlights sacrifice as the foundation of genuine service to God and humanity.

“It calls to mind the profound blessings in patience, obedience, trust and unwavering faith exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim,” the governor stated.

He said the virtues remained timeless lessons capable of guiding Nigerians through present political and economic challenges.

“At a time of important political and economic transitions, the significance of this celebration becomes even more profound,” Mbah said.

He urged Nigerians to embrace shared humanity, stressing that national progress depended on unity, peace, compassion and mutual respect.

“Let us be reminded that our collective progress depends on our ability to uphold unity, peace and compassion above all divisions,” he added.

Mbah said the season offered another opportunity for citizens to recommit themselves to tolerance, sacrifice and solidarity for the common good.

“As we celebrate, I urge all citizens to continue praying for the peace, stability and prosperity of our dear state and nation,” he said.

He also appealed for harmony and cooperation in building a society founded on justice, opportunity and shared progress.

“Let us continue to work together in harmony to build a society defined by justice, opportunity and shared progress for all,” Mbah added.

The governor wished Muslim faithful a peaceful, joyful and fulfilling Eid-el-Kabir celebration. (NAN)
