The Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to inclusive and quality education as Nigeria marked the 2026 Children’s Day celebration.
Alausa made the pledge on Tuesday while hosting young disability advocate and actress, Dera Osadebe, alongside children from different schools and backgrounds at the Federal Ministry of Education headquarters in Abuja.
The event, organised as part of the Children’s Day activities, aimed to amplify the voices of Nigerian children and strengthen national commitment to child development and inclusive education.
Speaking during the celebration, the minister described Children’s Day as a reminder of the collective responsibility to protect and invest in the future of Nigerian children through education, wellbeing, and equal opportunities.

“Today is about celebrating the strength, creativity, and limitless potential of our children. Every Nigerian child deserves to feel seen, heard, encouraged, and supported to achieve their dreams regardless of background or circumstance,” Alausa said.
He commended Osadebe for her advocacy efforts in promoting awareness, compassion, and inclusion for children living with disabilities and autism across the country.
According to him, the young advocate’s courage and passion continue to inspire conversations around empathy, inclusion, and equal opportunities for all children.
“Dera’s courage and passion reflect the resilience and brilliance that exist in millions of Nigerian children. Her voice continues to inspire important conversations around inclusion, empathy, and equal opportunity for every child,” he added.
The minister noted that the celebration aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises child development, youth empowerment, and access to quality education nationwide.
He encouraged Nigerian children to believe in themselves, nurture their talents, and contribute positively to society, assuring them of the government’s continued support in creating an enabling environment for learning and growth.
“Children are at the heart of our nation’s future, and we must continue to create opportunities that allow them to learn, grow, and succeed,” he stated.
The Federal Ministry of Education reiterated its commitment to protecting the rights and wellbeing of Nigerian children through policies and programmes that promote safe learning environments, inclusive education, and equal opportunities for all.
