The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Oyo Sector Command, has apprehended two suspects who allegedly dispossess commuters of valuables after boarding their vehicles.

FRSC Sector Commander in Oyo State, Corps Commander Kehinde Dahunsi, disclosed this while handing over the suspects to men of the Nigeria Police Force, NPF, Eleyele Division, at the Sector headquarters on Monday in Ibadan.

A statement by the Sector Public Enlightment Officer, Chief Route Commander Busayo Oluwasola, quoted Dahunsi as stating that a female victim reported to the corps that her mobile phone was snatched after boarding a vehicle.

He added that members of the transport union, who had reportedly been monitoring the suspects’ vehicle over allegations of similar criminal activities, identified the suspects and the vehicle.

“As part of efforts to create a safer motoring environment through intelligence and effective patrol activities, at about 0900hrs on Monday, a patrol team of FRSC RS11.3 Oyo Sector Command apprehended two suspected ‘one chance’ operators,” Oluwasola said.

The command’s spokesman said that the suspects included the owner of the Nissan Micra vehicle with registration number AJW 903 XE allegedly used for the operation, and the driver.

“Members of the transport union invited to identify the suspects confirmed that the vehicle and the suspects had been under watch for similar allegations.

“The suspects and their vehicle have been handed over to officers of the Nigeria Police Force, Eleyele Division, for further investigation and necessary action,” he said.

Oluwasola said that the commandant reiterated the commitment of the FRSC to creating a safe motoring environment and commended the officers for their diligent work.
