The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has announced that at least 50 projects have been inaugurated across the nation’s capital since President Bola Tinubu assumed office on May 29, 2023, as he commissioned the Bwari Water Supply Network in Bwari Area Council on Tuesday.
Wike disclosed this during the inauguration of the water project, which marked the 50th official project commissioning in the FCT under Tinubu’s administration. The President was represented at the event by the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
“Let me also put on notice that since the assumption of Mr President on May 29, 2023, today is the 50th inauguration of projects. I am not talking about the unofficial ones,” Wike said.
The minister added that the FCT Administration plans to inaugurate at least 10 more projects before the commencement of campaigns for the 2027 general elections. “By the grace of God, before January 2027, we will inaugurate another 10 projects before campaigns begin,” he said.
Wike noted that several road projects across Ushafa and other parts of Bwari Area Council had been completed and inaugurated in 2025, adding that the 17-kilometre Bwari-Kubwa Road would also be commissioned before the end of the year.
The FCT minister said the essence of governance was to improve the lives of citizens, adding that Tinubu’s administration was focused on delivering projects that would bring tangible benefits to residents.

He recalled that Tinubu had, during the inauguration of the Greater Abuja Water Project, directed that water supply infrastructure be extended to satellite towns within the FCT.
Also speaking, the FCT Minister of State, Dr Mariya Mahmoud, described the Bwari Water Supply Network project as a major milestone in the implementation of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Mahmoud said the initiative reflects the administration’s commitment to expanding access to critical infrastructure and improving the living standards of FCT residents.
She commended President Tinubu for his support toward the development of Abuja and praised Wike for accelerating infrastructure delivery, particularly in underserved satellite communities.
Describing the project as “the fulfilment of a promise”, Mahmoud said improved access to clean water would boost public health, enhance livelihoods and strengthen residents’ confidence in government.
Earlier, the Acting Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority, Richard Dauda, said the Bwari Water Supply Network project was awarded in August 2025 as part of efforts to expand potable water access across the FCT.
Dauda explained that the project provides the secondary pipeline network needed to connect Bwari’s tertiary distribution system, ensuring efficient water supply to end users.
He added that the project was designed to upgrade and expand the existing reservoir and distribution capacity to serve communities including Ushafa, Aji, Zuma, Gaba and Kuchiko.
