Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has listed eight persons as commissioners for consideration by the Nasarawa State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.
The nominations were formally announced on Wednesday during plenary at the State House of Assembly in Lafia after the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, read a letter transmitted by the governor requesting legislative approval for the appointments.
According to the Speaker, the nominees are expected to fill key positions in the State Executive Council following the recent cabinet reshuffle carried out by the governor to reposition his administration for improved service delivery.
The nominees are Muhammad Habeeb Nagogo (Wamba Local Government Area), Ahmed Yakubu Mohammed (Lafia LGA), Hon. Mohammed Baba Shehu (Keffi LGA), Hon. Mohammed Iyimoga Oyigye (Obi LGA), Adamu Rabecca Kpadji (Wamba LGA), Nawani Aboki (Doma LGA), Jibril Abdullahi Ibrahim, FCNA (Nasarawa LGA), and Ashefo Daniel Paul (Lafia LGA).
The Speaker directed the Clerk of the House to formally notify all nominees to submit 30 copies of their curriculum vitae and other relevant documents ahead of their screening exercise.
He said the nominees are scheduled to appear before the House on Friday, August 7, 2026, where lawmakers will assess their qualifications, experience and suitability for appointment as commissioners before making a final decision on their confirmation.

The latest nominations come barely two weeks after the Nasarawa State Government carried out a minor cabinet reshuffle aimed at repositioning the administration to deliver on its remaining campaign promises before the expiration of Governor Sule’s second term.
The reshuffle was announced on July 22 by the Secretary to the State Government, Labaran Shuaibu Magaji shortly after a meeting of the State Executive Council held in Lafia.
Speaking to journalists at the time, Magaji explained that the exercise was part of the government’s ongoing efforts to improve efficiency, strengthen governance and accelerate the implementation of key development programmes across the state.
He disclosed that six commissioners were directed to step aside, affecting the Ministries of Works, Women Affairs, Information, Lands, Science and Technology, and Security and Other Sundry Matters.
Although the state government described the exercise as a routine administrative decision, political observers believe it was designed to inject fresh ideas into the cabinet and improve performance in strategic sectors as the administration enters its final months.
If confirmed by the House of Assembly, the eight nominees will join the State Executive Council and play key roles in implementing government policies and completing ongoing projects across infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture and other priority sectors.
The screening process is expected to examine the nominees’ educational qualifications, professional records, public service experience and integrity before lawmakers vote on their confirmation.
Governor Sule has repeatedly stated that his administration remains committed to completing legacy projects and consolidating development initiatives across Nasarawa State before the end of its tenure, with the reconstituted cabinet expected to help drive those objectives in the months ahead.
