Former Sierra Leone international Michael Lahoud has placed Galatasaray forward Victor Osimhen among the three best strikers in Europe at the moment, highlighting the Nigerian’s quality and importance ahead of the new UEFA Champions League campaign.

Lahoud made the assessment while discussing Galatasaray’s chances of competing against Europe’s leading clubs this season. He believes the Turkish champions possess enough attacking quality to challenge strongly in the Champions League league phase.

According to the former Sierra Leone international, Osimhen belongs in the same conversation as some of the continent’s most prolific forwards, including Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe.

Osimhen is expected to play a central role in Galatasaray’s plans as the club targets a strong Champions League campaign.

Lahoud believes the Nigerian’s goalscoring ability gives Galatasaray a major advantage, particularly in matches against some of the strongest teams in Europe.

The former international pointed to the importance of Champions League numbers and performances when assessing the continent’s leading strikers, arguing that Osimhen’s record makes him worthy of recognition among Europe’s elite forwards.

“Galatasaray has arguably the best striker in Europe right now alongside Harry Kane, Kylian Mbappe and Victor Osimhen,” Lahoud said on the CBS Sports Golazo Network.

His assessment underlines the level of expectation surrounding Osimhen, who is set to be one of Galatasaray’s most important players in their pursuit of success on the European stage.

Beyond Osimhen, Lahoud believes Galatasaray’s attacking options have received another major boost with the presence of Rafael Leao.

The Portuguese forward provides additional pace, creativity and attacking threat, giving Galatasaray another player capable of making a difference in high-level European matches.

Lahoud believes the combination of Osimhen and Leao could become one of Galatasaray’s biggest strengths during the Champions League campaign.

“I stand on business when I say that the numbers don’t lie when it comes to the Champions League. But the fact that Galatasaray have Rafael Leao, I think that becomes a real X factor,” he said.

The addition of Leao means opponents could face a greater challenge when trying to contain Galatasaray’s attack, particularly with Osimhen providing a strong presence in front of goal.

With Osimhen leading the line and Leao offering another attacking dimension, Lahoud is confident that Galatasaray can finish among the top eight teams in the Champions League league phase.

The new league-phase format places greater emphasis on consistency across the campaign, with teams needing strong results against a range of opponents to secure a favourable position.

Lahoud expects Galatasaray to take advantage of their attacking strength and compete for one of the leading positions. “Galatasaray will finish the Champions League league phase in the top eight this season,” he said.

Lahoud’s prediction puts additional focus on Galatasaray’s leading attacking players as the club prepares for its European fixtures.

Osimhen is likely to carry much of the goalscoring responsibility, while Leao could provide the creativity and individual quality needed to unlock difficult defences.

The pair could therefore become central to Galatasaray’s ambitions of progressing deep into the competition.

For Osimhen, being ranked alongside Kane and Mbappe by Lahoud further highlights the reputation he has built as one of Europe’s leading forwards.

Galatasaray will enter the Champions League campaign with expectations of competing against some of the biggest clubs in European football.

The club’s attacking strength, particularly through Osimhen and Leao, has generated optimism that it can challenge for a place among the league phase’s leading teams.

Lahoud’s prediction reflects that confidence, with the former Sierra Leone international backing Galatasaray to finish inside the top eight.

Much of that ambition will depend on how effectively Osimhen and his teammates perform when the Champions League competition begins, with the Nigerian striker expected to remain at the heart of Galatasaray’s European challenge.
