Nigerian Afrobeats star Burna Boy and Colombian singer Shakira have reached a major milestone with their collaborative track, “Dai Dai,” as the song’s official music video surpasses one billion views on YouTube.

According to the view count displayed on Shakira’s official YouTube channel, the music video has crossed the one-billion mark. The figure was independently checked and is based on views recorded on the official video uploaded to Shakira’s channel.

Released in May, “Dai Dai” brings together Shakira’s Latin-pop influence and Burna Boy’s Afrobeats sound, creating a collaboration that reflects the growing international reach of African music.

The achievement further strengthens Burna Boy’s position on the global music scene, while adding another major milestone to Shakira’s extensive career.

The collaboration also carries a strong football connection, having been officially selected as the Official Song of the FIFA World Cup 2026™.

Royalties generated from “Dai Dai” will support the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, linking the global music collaboration to an education-focused initiative.

The song is also featured on the official FIFA World Cup 2026 album alongside tracks by several other international artistes. Nigerian stars Davido, Ayra Starr and Rema are among the artistes featured on the album.

The latest milestone adds to Shakira’s long-standing association with football and World Cup music. The Colombian singer previously recorded “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa),” the official song of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

Her involvement with another World Cup project more than a decade later further reinforces her connection with the global sporting event.

For Burna Boy, the one-billion-view achievement highlights the continued expansion of Nigerian Afrobeats beyond Africa.

His collaboration with one of Latin America’s biggest music stars has provided another platform for Nigerian music to reach audiences across different regions and cultures.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that “Dai Dai” is included in the official FIFA World Cup 2026 album alongside songs by other international artistes.
