Former Delta State Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan has reportedly died, months after his family dismissed earlier reports of his death.
SaharaReporters reported on Monday that sources close to the former governor’s family confirmed his death, although details surrounding the reported development remained unclear.
“Uduaghan is no more; he is dead,” one of the sources reportedly said.
The report comes months after rumours of Uduaghan’s death circulated on social media, particularly Facebook and WhatsApp, in June 2026.
At the time, his media aide, Henry Unini, dismissed the claims, assuring the public that the former governor was alive and receiving medical attention.
“I can tell you for a fact that Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan is alive,” Unini said while responding to the earlier reports.

He questioned the source of the rumours and cautioned against spreading unverified information about someone’s death.
Unini also referred to an incident involving the late Chief Nnamdi Azikiwe, who reportedly heard a news announcement of his own death and questioned why the report had not been verified with the appropriate sources.
The media aide acknowledged that Uduaghan had been experiencing health challenges but maintained that he was receiving medical care and recovering.
“It is now common knowledge that Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan has been sick, but he is receiving proper medical care,” Unini said at the time.
He also thanked friends, well-wishers and Delta residents who contacted the family to confirm the former governor’s condition.
Unini urged the public to continue praying for Uduaghan and his family, adding that further updates would be provided when necessary.
As of the time of filing this report, details surrounding the newly reported death had not been independently confirmed.
