First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has stated that Nigerians who do not acknowledge the nation’s progress under President Bola Tinubu may need “Bola Tinubu eyeglasses.”
She voiced this during the inauguration of the Abuja headquarters of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, a grassroots mobilization group supporting her husband’s bid for re-election in 2027.
“So things are happening in Nigeria, except, you know, those who don’t see; maybe we’ll give them some, you know, Bola Tinubu eyeglasses. We are doing that, JigiBola,” she said.
Jigi-Bola is an eye-care initiative introduced by Tinubu during his tenure as Lagos State governor in 2001 to provide services such as free eye screening, eyeglasses and surgery. The Lagos State Government relaunched the programme in 2021.
The First Lady cited improvements at Nigerian airports as evidence of progress under the current administration, saying she wanted to travel more quickly.

“I want to get to the airport. I want to travel, you know, so quickly. And you can see our airports too are changing,” she said.
Mrs Tinubu also expressed hope that she would leave the Presidential Villa in 2031 and enjoy a better Nigeria in her 70s.
“I want to leave Aso Rock, in 2031, by the grace of God, and enter a Nigeria that me as a 70-something-year-old woman will enjoy,” she said.
She subsequently commissioned the movement’s Abuja headquarters, expressing confidence in the president’s re-election bid.
The First Lady also declared her support for the All Progressives Congress and the movement’s convener, Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo.
The event forms part of political mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 general election, as supporters of the president work to strengthen grassroots backing for his re-election.
