In a show of recognition and support, the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP) extended heartfelt congratulations to Mr. Olufemi Oladapo Soneye for his recent appointment as Chief Corporate Communications Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited.
GOCOP also celebrated Dr. Malachy Agbo, one of its pioneer presidents, who recently assumed the role of Commissioner for Human Development and Poverty Eradication in Enugu State after being sworn in by Governor Peter Mbah.
Maureen Chigbo, President of GOCOP and publisher of RealNews online magazine, lauded these appointments and urged Mr. Soneye and Dr. Agbo to continue representing GOCOP with distinction. She emphasized the guild’s unwavering support for both appointees.
A press statement from GOCOP’s Publicity Secretary, Mr. Remmy Nweke, quoted Chigbo as highlighting the recent appointments of other esteemed GOCOP members.
Notably, Malam Rasheed Olawale of Sahel Standard was appointed as the spokesperson to the Osun State Governor, and Mr. Ajagbe Adeyemi Teslim of August24news assumed the role of Special Adviser on Digital Communications to the Lagos Island Council chairman.
Chigbo pointed out that Mr. Soneye, prior to his appointment, was associated with Per Second News, and Dr. Agbo was the founding publisher of The Citizens.

She extended her best wishes for success in their new roles, reiterating GOCOP’s readiness to offer support and collaboration to ensure they fulfill their mandates.

The Guild held its annual national conference on Wednesday, October 4, at the Abuja Continental Hotel, formerly Sheraton, with the conference chaired by Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board. The keynote address was delivered by Prof. Uche Joseph Uwaleke, the first Nigerian professor of the capital market from Nasarawa State University Keffi.
