The APC women’s mobilisation directorate combined a Lafia rally with hospital and market visits this week, distributing business items and cash grants to 1,000 women drawn from Nasarawa State’s 13 local government areas.
The outreach, carried out on behalf of the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, was led by the Co-Director of the APC Presidential Campaign Council’s Directorate of Women Mobilisation, Dr Betta Edu. It took the delegation to the Federal University Teaching Hospital, Lafia, the Women Modern Market, and the Government House before the rally.
Speaking at the rally, Dr Edu said the ruling party had no serious challenger in the state or nationally, and urged women to deliver their votes to the APC in the 2027 general elections.
“There is no other valid option to APC in Nasarawa or Nigeria, so everyone should vote APC come 2027,” she told supporters.
Speaking to journalists afterwards, she described women as “a formidable force” in shaping electoral outcomes and asked party women to take the campaign to wards, markets, homes and rural communities.
Items and grants
According to the directorate, 500 vulnerable women received household and business equipment — deep freezers, gas cookers, ovens, grinding machines and generators — while another 500 women traders received ₦50,000 business grants in partnership with the Tony Elumelu Foundation.
More than 500 women also completed dry-season agricultural training, and 250 persons living with disabilities received ₦200,000 each to support small businesses, the directorate said.
At the Federal University Teaching Hospital, the delegation met patients and health workers and presented the visit as a message of support from the First Lady. Traders at the Women Modern Market were briefed on the administration’s economic policies and empowerment schemes.
Dr Edu said economic empowerment, financial inclusion, healthcare, education and social protection had been central to the government’s women-focused programmes over the past three years, and credited the First Lady’s Renewed Hope Initiative with the interventions in Nasarawa.
She asked APC women in the state to sustain their support for the Renewed Hope Agenda through unity, voter education and grassroots engagement, arguing that the administration’s record needed to be communicated more effectively to communities.
The Nasarawa programme is part of a nationwide sequence of women’s mobilisation rallies the party has staged in recent weeks, including in the South-East and North-Central zones.
