In an effort to combat terrorism in Nigeria, President on Sunday asked German Chancellor Olaf Scholz for assistance.
At a one-on-one meeting with the German Chancellor at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Tinubu made the request.
“We are making progress against terrorism. More assistance is still required in that regard. And we must fight for democracy if we are to be able to maintain the rule of law, democracy, and freedom for our people.
And in order for us to realize the African dream, democracy must always triumph. This is the reason it is absolutely essential that you come this time.
I don’t need to discuss the different issues that the African Sahel region is facing. You are aware of the coups that occurred in Guinea and most recently the Niger Republic.
“We have individuals handling the situation diplomatically. We will continue to need your knowledge and will emphasize how important it is that you assist with security.
“We appreciate your previous contributions, especially the ones regarding police and law enforcement training. More aid is required. And today, we’ll talk about it more.
The president declared that his administration would prioritize good governance in order to advance the nation after the Supreme Court’s decision to validate his election.
He declared that his administration was committed to rewriting history and establishing a revolutionary government in the nation.
The Nigerian Supreme Court made a final decision regarding our election process only a few days ago.
“The diversion is finished. This allows us more time to concentrate on advancing Nigeria’s economic prospects and prosperity, which will uphold democracy, as well as governance for the people.”
With Germany having the biggest economy in Europe, our economic team and group members are all here and prepared to work with you.
And since Nigeria has the biggest economy in Africa, we are fortunate to have a pleasant climate and an abundance of natural resources.
“As we transition to a transition energy source, our hydrocarbon industry is still in its infancy from an environmental standpoint.
“I am aware that Germany has made significant progress in modernizing energy and safeguarding the environment to meet the demands of the 21st century in Europe and around the world.”
Scholz reaffirmed Germany’s dedication to democracy and the rule of law.
It is imperative that we turn this into a national way of life. It bodes well for their improved future. And so I’m very happy that we can work on this discussion.
We’ll look at how we can help you keep trying your hardest and address the insecurity issues in your nation as well.
“We will discuss specifics at a later time, but rest assured that we will continue to support and collaborate in this area.”
He stated that utilizing Nigeria’s economic opportunities and growing the economy would be key components of the two nations’ cooperation.
In addition to the obvious opportunities posed by oil and gas, which are historically associated with your nation, there are many other opportunities.
However, the German said, “There’s a lot of room for improvement, using your country’s capacities, but also for going into investments for the future, which is about hydrogen.”, said the German Chancellor.
