The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu, has issued a warning to Nigerians about the existence of a deceptive portal created by malicious individuals with the intention of defrauding the public.
In a statement released in Abuja on Tuesday, Dr. Edu disclosed that the Federal Government Humanitarian and Poverty Alleviation Trust Fund Registration Portal is fraudulent and does not have any affiliation with the ministry or any other government agency.
“The said portal is fake, created by undesirable elements with the sole intention of defrauding unsuspecting members of the public,” Dr. Edu stated.
She emphasized that neither the ministry nor any government departments and agencies, nor their partners, have established a portal for applying to access funds from the humanitarian and poverty alleviation trust fund.
“The general public is, therefore, advised to disregard the link being circulated,” the minister concluded.
This alert comes after President Bola Tinubu approved the establishment of a Humanitarian and Poverty Alleviation Trust Fund during a Federal Executive Council, FEC , meeting. Tinubu, who presided over the weekly FEC meeting, conveyed the approval to the cabinet members in attendance at the State House.
