Tragedy struck on Tuesday along the Itamaga-Ijede road in Ikorodu, Lagos, as three individuals lost their lives, while one person sustained serious injuries in a road accident.
The accident occurred at approximately 8:05 am and involved a Toyota Camry car and a tricycle. Eyewitnesses reported that the car was traveling at high speed when it crossed into the oncoming lane, colliding with the tricycle. The impact of the collision led to the immediate death of three passengers, including one adult and two schoolchildren.
One of the injured victims, a secondary school student, fell into a coma and was promptly rushed to the hospital. The tricycle driver also required medical attention.
Following the accident, the driver of the Camry car fled the scene, leaving behind the aftermath of the tragic collision.
Local police authorities later arrived at the accident site and towed both the tricycle and the car to the police station. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of responsible driving and adherence to speed limits to prevent such devastating accidents.
