In a joint operation, the Nigerian Army, troops of the 17 Brigade and the Nigeria Police successfully rescued two National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, members.
The 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Police executed a cooperative operation that resulted in the successful rescue of two NYSC members who were abducted by bandits in the Yargoje community of the Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State.
This was disclosed in a statement released on Friday by Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, the director of Army Public Relations.
On Thursday, November 2, 2023, the corps members who had been kidnapped during their journey from Edo to Katsina State were freed.
“The rescued corps members have been offered necessary medical attention and support to ensure their physical and emotional well-being and are currently in the custody of the Nigerian Police in Kankara.
“The Nigerian Army continues to solicit the cooperation and support of the public in providing timely and relevant information to enhance troops’ proactive operational engagement of criminal elements threatening the security of the nation”, the statement partly read.
