A carpenter simply known as Orunor is accused of murdering his apprentice in Delta State’s Sapele area.
According to reports, the owner of the workshop on the new Ogorode Road disciplined his apprentice named Onome for being late to work and died as a result.
When Orunor began beating the boy, he also accused him of stealing his ATM card, according to a local who wishes to remain anonymous.
“When the boy got home after work, he complained to his parents that he was not feeling too fine and related what happened to him at his place of work.
“The parents of the apprentice decided to take him to the hospital for a checkup but before this arrangement could be concluded, Onome died.
“As the news got to the hearing of Orunor, he ran away, till now we have not seen him and the workshop had been under lock”, the source said.
When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, said a manhunt had been launched to arrest the carpenter.
“The carpenter is currently at large, and the police are making efforts to arrest him”, he stated.
