During the 2023 Second Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Parliament in Abuja, the various committees addressed draft resolutions for the sub-region.
On Tuesday, the joint committees submitted their recommendations to plenary for debate or adoption.
The recommendations cover several crucial areas, including regulations governing plastic products, the harmonization of environmentally sound management of plastic waste in ECOWAS member states, and regulations on environmental and social assessment within the ECOWAS.
Other key submissions encompass regulations related to combatting illegal exploitation and trade in wildlife in West Africa, health, social affairs, gender, empowerment of women, education, science, culture, trade, customs, free movement, legal affairs, and human rights.
The plenary will now deliberate on these recommendations, reflecting the collaborative efforts of ECOWAS Parliament committees to address pressing issues and contribute to the development of the sub-region.
