The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has announced its intention to invite Rev. Timothy Daluk, Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, following his recent accusations against the military regarding a recent attack in the state.
In a viral video, Daluk claimed that the Nigerian military was allegedly aiding the killings of Christians and the destruction of property in Mangu. According to him, the military was purportedly sending Christians away, allowing militias to burn their houses while leaving Muslims untouched.
Responding to the allegations on Thursday, Maj. Gen. Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, stated that the DHQ was in the process of reaching out to Daluk to substantiate his claims. He acknowledged the emotional impact of traumatic experiences on judgment and emphasized the military’s commitment to fulfilling its duties professionally and following international standards.
Buba asserted, “We would get to the bottom of his allegations after we have an audience with him. All the same, the military will continue to discharge its duties professionally and in line with the best international standards.” The DHQ aims to thoroughly investigate Daluk’s accusations and address the concerns raised by the CAN Chairman.
