Residents of Minna, the capital of Niger State on Monday morning blocked main roads in the city to protest the high cost of living.

While police officers and other security personnel watched the situation, protesters, including women and young people, were heard yelling protest songs.

The demonstrators claimed that they were forced to block major roads in order to attract the attention of the authorities due to the rise in food prices and the government’s ineffective response.
