An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court has ordered the remand of a 50-year-old security guard, Mohammed Sanni in the Nigerian Correctional Service facility for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl.
The Presiding Chief Magistrate, Mr O.A Layinka did not take Sanni’s plea and ordered that the case file should be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions, DPP, for legal advice.
She adjourned the case until March 28, pending the DPP’s advice.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp Lucky Ihieme, had told the court that Sanni committed the offence on Jan. 8 at Obidiegwu St., Iyana School, Iba, Lagos.
He explained that Sanni invited the victim to eat “suya” in an uncompleted building where he took advantage of the girl and defiled her.
Ihieme said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 137 and 261 Criminal Laws of Lagos State (2015).
He added that the offence is punishable by life imprisonment according to Lagos State laws.
