The Defence Headquarters has said that soldiers fighting the counter-insurgency war and other internal security operations across the country killed 254 terrorists and arrested 264 others in the last week.

The Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, who made this known, said the soldiers also arrested 104 oil thieves and rescued 73 kidnapped victims.

Buba, while assuring that the armed forces will continue to degrade the ability of terrorists to carry out small-scale attacks that are intended to create panic in localities across operational theatres in the country, said the ongoing counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency operations have prevented the terrorists, bandits, kidnappers, and other evil elements from accomplishing their strategic objectives.  Gen. Buba, in a statement, said troops denied the oil theft of an estimated sum of N2 billion in the South-South Zone of the country and recovered 378 assorted weapons and 4,705 assorted ammunition.
