Manchester City clinched a hard-fought 1-0 win against Bournemouth on Saturday, with Phil Foden scoring the decisive goal in the first half. The victory brought City within one point of Premier League leaders Liverpool.
Foden found the net from close range in the 24th minute, securing the win for Pep Guardiola’s team despite a less than stellar performance against a spirited Bournemouth side.
Despite Bournemouth’s threat, especially in the second half with Marcus Tavernier and Enes Unal going close to equalizing, City held on to secure the three points.
With 59 points from 26 games, City trails behind Liverpool by just one point. Liverpool, however, has a League Cup final against Chelsea on Sunday.
City’s ability to grind out wins even when not at their best is a testament to their championship pedigree, a trait they have demonstrated in winning three consecutive Premier League titles.
