The Kaduna State Government, KDSG, and the Accelerating Nutrition Results in Nigeria, ANRiN, project have provided food items and vitamin-fortified farm seedlings to 100 households affected by the Tudun Biri accidental Army drone attack.
Credible News reports that Tudun Biri, a community in Igabi LGA of Kaduna State, experienced a tragic Army drone attack on December 3rd, resulting in numerous deaths and injuries.
The relief efforts for Tudun Biri were spearheaded by the state government through its Ministry of Health, with support from the World Bank and Society for Family Health, as part of the ANRiN project.
ANRiN, funded by the World Bank, aims to enhance quality and cost-effective nutrition services for pregnant and lactating women, adolescent girls, and children under 5-years-old. It’s active in 12 states across Nigeria, including Kaduna, where malnutrition rates are high.

Food items distributed included rice, beans, millet, salt, palm oil, and vitamin-fortified seedlings like potatoes, tomatoes, and okra. Additionally, herbicides, pesticides, and goats for rearing were provided.
Dr. Zainab Muhammad-Idris, the Coordinator of the ANRiN project in Kaduna, emphasized that the distribution was an emergency response to alleviate the suffering of the Tudun Biri community after the unfortunate incident.
She explained that since the people of Tudun Biri were mostly farmers, they reached out to the ANRiN project to provide immediate support tailored to their needs.
The event also included training sessions for women to learn home gardening techniques, while men were given opportunities to enhance their farming skills.
Following Vice-President Kashim Shettima’s visit to Tudun Biri, the World Bank was approached to intervene through the ANRiN project. Assessments were conducted to understand the community’s needs.
Mohammad-Idris encouraged households to use the items wisely and called on individuals, organizations, and philanthropists to follow suit. She also urged the state government to continue providing social amenities, especially in rural areas.
The Ward Head of Tudun Biri, Malam Sulaiman Shuaibu, expressed gratitude to the state government for the support. Deputy Governor Hajiya Hadiza Balarabe reiterated the government’s commitment to fulfilling its promises to the Tudun Biri community.
Balarabe, represented by Hajiya Fatima Abubakar, the acting Director of Administration and Finance at the State Emergency Management Agency, emphasized that distributing food items and farming essentials was a crucial step in alleviating the hardships faced by the victims of the drone attack.
She encouraged the recipients to use the items wisely for the well-being of their families and to rejuvenate farming efforts in the community.
