The Olubadan Advisory Council is set to convene on Tuesday to initiate the enthronement process for a new monarch in Ibadan land.
The esteemed throne was left vacant on March 14, 2024, following the demise of Oba Lekan Balogun, who ruled the ancient city for two years until his passing at the age of 81.
In accordance with tradition, the Olubadan Advisory Council will gather at the residence of the most Senior High Chief, Chief Rashidi Ladoja, former Oyo State governor, located at his Bodija residence.
A reliable source indicates that during the meeting, the Olubadan Advisory Council will nominate the successor to the late monarch, High Chief Oba Owolabi Olakulehin.
The traditional practice of nomination of a new Olubadan by the Advisory Council, according to the source, is usually done after the eighth-day Islamic prayers for the late monarch, which was held on Friday, March 22, 2024.
The source disclosed that soon after the nomination, a document of affirmation of Olakulehin’s nomination would be sent to Governor Seyi Makinde, through the Office of the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters.
