LAWMA launches waste management internship program to empower fresh graduates

The Lagos Waste Management Authority, LAWMA, has kicked off its one-month waste management internship program at its academy with the arrival of the April batch of interns.

Mrs. Folashade Kadiri, Director of Public Affairs at LAWMA, said the interns are fresh graduates from various universities across Nigeria, representing different academic disciplines.

Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, the Managing Director/CEO of LAWMA, congratulated the interns for being selected for the internship program. He emphasized that the program would provide them with valuable insights into waste management and its benefits.

Gbadegesin highlighted the concept of waste as a resource and encouraged the interns to explore the business opportunities within the circular economy value chain, where waste can be transformed into wealth and contribute positively to society and the environment.

He urged the interns to focus on the practical aspects of their training and strive to become advocates for environmental sustainability.

Similarly, Mr. Kunle Adebiyi, the Executive Director of LAWMA, advised the interns to utilize the knowledge gained during the internship to identify opportunities within the waste management sector for personal and financial growth.

He emphasized the importance of paying attention to the various aspects of their training to leverage their interests and pursue future entrepreneurial ventures in waste management.

Overall, the internship program aims to equip the interns with the skills and knowledge necessary to become agents of positive change in waste management and environmental sustainability.
