The consistent performance of Nigeria’s Super Eagle midfielder Alex Iwobi has earned him a top award with Everton FC.
Iwobi was honoured with the award after being voted by his peers as their player of the season as part of the Toffees’ end-of-season awards, with goalkeeper Jordan Pickford and midfielder Dwight McNeil also claiming honours.
The Toffees waited for the final-day victory over Bournemouth to guarantee their place in the premier league. Despite their struggle this season, the Nigerian international was able to distinguish himself and helped the club maintain their premier league status.
Iwobi continued his impressive form from the previous season and topped the Players’ Player vote after playing a crucial role in several different positions, as well as providing a Club-high of eight assists.
During the presentation of this year’s award winner, Everton’s statement referenced Iwobi, saying: “Iwobi continued his impressive form from the previous season and topped the Players’ Player vote after playing a crucial role in several different positions, as well as providing a club-high of eight assists”.
Everton will be hoping to recover from the relegation dogfight in the 2022/2023 season by pushing on in the 2023/2024 season, likely with Iwobi at the centre of the team’s success again.
Credible News reports that clubs in England and beyond have had their eye set on the Nigeria star following his amazing performance in the just concluded but remain unseen if the management of Everton will release one of their most prized assets.
