Three persons have reportedly died and several others trapped under the rubble after a building crumbled on Friday in the Kuntau area of Gwale Local Government of Kano State.

Sources disclosed that at least 11 persons are trapped under the rubble.

Two persons who were rescued have been rushed to the hospital by officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps.

Kano State Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency Nuradeen Abdullahi confirmed the incident on Friday, stating two others also sustained injuries during the incident.

“We received a distress call today Friday around 9:30 am from a good Samaritan that a three-storey building under construction has collapsed in the Kuntau area.

“Personnel from NEMA and State Fire Service, Police, Red Cross, NSCDC and SEMA are involved in the rescue operation to rescue the remaining persons trapped in the building,” Abdullahi said.

The Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Abdullahi told The Punch that personnel of the agency were still trying to rescue the remaining victims.

“We got the report of the incident but our men are still at the scene of the incident trying to rescue the victims, ” he said.
