A female pilgrim from Kwara State named Hawawu has reportedly died in Saudi Arabia from injuries sustained in a suicide bid.
The Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Board on Sunday disclosed that an investigation carried out by Saudi Arabian authorities on the cause of the death of one of its pilgrims revealed that the pilgrim committed suicide in Madina.
The Executive Secretary of the board, Abdulsalam AbdulKabir disclosed that another pilgrim from the state also died in Madina.
Hajia Hawawu died as a result of what the Saudi authorities found to be “an unfortunate suicidal episode from the rooftop of her apartment in Madina”.
It further stated that the other pilgrim, Saliu Mohammed died in an intensive care unit of a public hospital in Madina after suddenly falling ill.
The board expressed regrets over the demise of the two pilgrims from the state, describing such as “sad events” and submitted totally to the decree and ultimate knowledge of Allah in all affairs.
It then sent its profound condolences to the families of the deceased and prayed that Allah grant them comfort and forgive the departed.
