Italian Seria A top scorer and Super Eagles forward, Victor Osimhen has celebrated the Nigeria U20 men’s national team as a source of inspiration for his team.
Osimhen, impressed by the leadership quality of the captain, on and off the pitch, invited the utility player to the SuperEagles camp in Lagos to appreciate his performance at the just concluded World Cup in Argentina and also encourage him to remain focused as his future remain bright.
“I want to appreciate and celebrate the Flying Eagles for making Nigerians happy and proud at the FIFA U20 World Cup in Argentina.
“I invited you to Super Eagles’ camp to show my appreciation and celebrate you before the team.
“I want to also seize this opportunity to let you know that the world saw your quality and leadership skill on and off the pitch,” Osimhen said.
Bameyi, fondly called ‘Big Engine’ by Flying Eagles coach, Ladan Bosso, for his ability to play as both right and left back, central defender and defensive midfielder, was named by FIFA as best passer and best marker in three different matches played at the 2023 U20 World Cup in Argentina.
Bameyi was also called to the Super Eagles camp when Nigeria faced Guinea Bissau in the African Nations Cup qualifiers Match Day 3 and 4.
He had his first cap for the Super Eagles against Costa Rica.
