A residential building in Kubwa, Abuja has reportedly collapsed early Saturday morning leading to many being trapped.
Two individuals have been rescued, while efforts continue to save other trapped residents.
Eye witnesses disclosed that the building, located in phase 2 was originally operating as the Al-Hilal hotel, which was later converted into residential apartments.

Emergency responders and security personnel swiftly mobilized to the scene to commence rescue operations. The exact number of individuals trapped remains unclear as efforts to extricate them continue.

The spokesperson for the FCT Emergency Management Agency, Nkechi Isa said their search and rescue team are at the scene.
The building’s collapse has raised concerns about structural integrity and safety protocols, especially regarding conversions from commercial to residential use. Authorities are investigating the incident to ascertain the cause of the collapse and determine any potential negligence or violations.
