A policeman was reportedly killed Thursday after a violent attack on the convoy of reinstated deputy governor of Edo state, Hon. Phillip Shaibu.
Two other policemen and Senator Monday Okpebholo, the candidate of All Progressives Congress in the September 21 governorship election in the state are said to be receiving treatment at a medical facility in Benin City.
It was gathered that Senator Okpebholo was in company of Shaibu, alongside supporters when the incident occurred.
The development is coming less than 24 hours after a Federal High Court in Abuja voided the impeachment of Phillip Shaibu as deputy governor of Edo state by the state House of Assembly.

They were said to be driving in a convoy out of the airport when gunmen in a mini bus reportedly opened fire on their convoy.
It took the efforts of riot policemen to return fire.
The spokesman for Edo state police command, SP. Chidi Nwabuzor said: “the incident is still in the realm of speciation because we have to carry out investigation first to ascertain what transpired.”
However, the Edo state Commissioner for Information and Communication, Mr. Chris Nehikhare, alleged that Shaibu has resorted to violence in his pursuit to return to Government House despite a stay of execution pending before the law court.
