Police launches probe into death of Nigerian crossdresser, Abuja Area Mama

The Nigeria Police Force has ordered proper investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a crossdresser, popularly known as ‘Abuja Area Mama’.

It was reported that his body was found at a public space in the Federal Capital Territory on Thursday morning.

The news of his passing has sparked an outpouring of grief on social media, with fans and followers mourning his loss and paying tribute to his memory.

Confirming his +death in a press statement issued on Thursday afternoon, by Josephine Adeh, Spokesperson for the FCT Police Command disclosed that his corpse was found along Katampe – Mabushi expressway.

He was later confirmed dead by Maitama District Hospital, according to the police.

The police said: “In response to a distress call received by the Command Control Room on 08/08/2024 at about 07:40 AM, that an unidentified lady was seen lying motionless along Katampe – Mabushi express way, a team of detectives were immediately dispatched to the scene.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the individual was a man fully dressed in female clothing with no means of identification on him. He was immediately taken to Maitama District Hospital where Doctors on duty confirmed him dead.

“The Commissioner of Police, FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh has promptly ordered a thorough and discreet investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding his death. Updates on this matter will be communicated in due course.”

The incident occurs just three days after Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky a well-known crossdresser was released from prison upon completing his sentence for defacing the Nigerian currency.

Bobrisky together with his friends were captured on camera jubilating over his release on Monday.

Bobrisky served a six-month prison sentence over abuse of naira notes.
