Amaka Patience Sunnberger, a Nigerian woman residing in Canada, has firmly rejected any concerns about arrest or deportation following recent calls from Nigeria’s House of Representatives for her prosecution.

Sunnberger, a Canadian citizen, dismissed the threats as unfounded, emphasizing that Canada’s legal system provides her with protection against arbitrary actions. In a video posted on X, formerly called Twitter, Sunnberger confidently stated, “Somebody just send me message, say them arrest me, say them wan deport me, with passport? I be Canada pikin. See am now, I dey house, why I go dey lie?”

The controversy erupted after Sunnberger, who claims to live in Ontario, Canada, made inflammatory comments against Yoruba and Benin people during a virtual TikTok meeting. Her remarks, which included threats of violence against these groups, sparked widespread outrage and led to calls for her prosecution.

The Nigerian House of Representatives has formally requested that the Canadian government investigate and prosecute Sunnberger for her comments, alleging that her statements contravene both international and Canadian laws.

Despite the pressure from Nigeria, Sunnberger remains undisturbed, citing her Canadian citizenship as a shield against potential legal repercussions. The situation continues to unfold as both nations address the implications of her controversial statements.
