Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden has pleaded guilty to all nine charges in his federal tax case on Thursday, avoiding a potentially embarrassing trial that was set to begin with jury selection.
The guilty plea, announced just as the trial was about to commence, resolves allegations that Hunter Biden engaged in a four-year scheme to avoid paying at least $1.4 million in federal taxes, instead spending the funds on lavish expenses including drugs, escorts, luxury hotels, and exotic cars.
Hunter Biden’s decision to plead guilty was disclosed that by his defense attorney, Abbe Lowell, in a Los Angeles federal court. This move comes after a previous plea agreement in a related case in Delaware fell apart, leading to the current tax evasion charges in California.

The plea, which must be approved by U.S. District Judge Mark Scarsi would allow Hunter Biden to accept punishment without admitting guilt, known as an Alford plea.

This development marks the latest chapter in Hunter Biden’s legal troubles, which have included a recent conviction on felony gun charges in Delaware. His sentencing in that case is scheduled for November 13.
