The Federal Government has reaffirmed its dedication to the development of Nigeria’s younger generation, with Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Sen. George Akume assuring that the current administration is fully committed to empowering and building the capacity of the nation’s youth to help them realize their full potential.

This is even as the SGF stressed that any society that fails to build up its youth is doomed, highlighting the critical importance of youth empowerment for national progress.

Akume made the disclosure when he played host to a 15-man delegation of National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, led by its President, Comrade Lucky Emonefe in Abuja.

A statement by the Director of Information Segun Imohiosen quoted the SGF as saying that it’s part of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to bridge leadership vacuum by grooming youths for leadership positions in order to contribute their quota to the economic development of the country.

Commending the youth for supporting the Tinubu-led administration, Sen. Akume charged them to be role models as their younger ones look up to them for inspiration.

“You want to be like me, those behind you will also want to be like you. You’ve been to school and you are doing well, they want to do the same thing and you become their role models,” the statement quoted Akume as saying.

The President of NANS appreciated the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for signing the amended Students Loans Bill into law which will assuage the plight of Nigerian Students and seek for more welfare packages for the Nigerian students.

While acknowledging the tumultuous times the nation is currently passing through, Emonefe urged Nigerians to be patient with the present administration and shun any act that is capable of destroying lives and property.

He also pleaded with the youths that this administration should be given more time to implement its Renewed Hope Agenda for the prosperity of all Nigerians.

The President of the All African Students Union, Comrade Osisiogu Osikenyi Enyinnaya showered encomiums on the SGF for his passionate support to Nigerian Students at the continental level which has contributed immensely to his success story as President of AASU along side the one-time President of West African Students’ Union, Comrade Romans Pillah, among other Nigerian Students.

He thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for given top priority to the welfare of Nigerian Students through its wonderful policies and assured that the AASU is willing to align with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu-led administration.

Highlight of the courtesy visit was the conferment of Patron of National Association of Nigerian Students on the SGF and the Grand Patron of NANS on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by the leadership of NANS.
