The city of Marrakech in Morocco will once again host the 2024 prestigious Confederation of African Football, CAF, Awards ceremony, the football federation announced.

This will be the third consecutive year that Morocco hosts the event which will take place on December 16, following last year’s glamorous celebration of African football.

Marrakech, renowned for its vibrant tourism and rich culture, will once again serve as the focal point for honoring excellence in African football.

In a Thursday statement, CAF noted that the awards will recognize exceptional achievements in both club and national competitions, with the coveted titles of CAF African Player of the Year for men and women as the main highlights.

Although the final list of nominees for Africa’s Best Player is still pending, several prominent players are expected to compete for this esteemed award. Notable contenders include Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman, Guinea’s Serhou Guirassy, and Morocco’s Brahim Díaz, all of whom have excelled in their respective leagues and competitions this year.

The Nigerian duo of Victor Osimhen and Asisat Oshoala currently hold the title of reigning African Footballer of the Year in the men’s and women’s categories, respectively, with the latter having won it a record six times and for the past three years.

However, CAF has not yet announced the official start time for the 2024 ceremony, but more details are anticipated soon.
